Simple wick trimming guide
Trimming the wick of a candle is an important task to ensure a safe and efficient burn. Not only will it help with the burn of the candle, but it can also improve the scent throw and maximise the candle burn time.
Step 1: Gather the Necessary Tools
Before you begin, you will need:
A pair of scissors or ideally wick trimmers
A clean, flat surface
A candle
Step 2: Understand the Ideal Wick Length
The ideal wick length is approximately ΒΌ inch (6 mm) to achieve a clean and even burn.
Trimming the wick to this length helps prevent excessive smoke, soot, and uneven burning.
Step 3: Examine the Wick
Before trimming, examine the wick for any signs of debris, such as charred bits or excess carbon buildup. If present, gently remove them using your fingers or tweezers. A clean wick allows for better combustion.
Step 4: Trim the Wick
With a steady hand, press the trimmers down gently, cutting the wick at the desired length. Make a clean, straight cut in one smooth motion to prevent fraying or jagged edges. For best results, we recommend using a wick trimmer over a pair of scissors for a more precise result.
